All That We Share

All That We Share

I was on my first date—in decades. To say that I was a nervous wreck is an understatement. After watching The Last Jedi, we walked to a nearby restaurant for a bite to eat.

As we talked, my mind was racing as I tried to ascertain his values, his relationship with his family, his aspirations and more.

But all that came to a screeching halt when he asked me if I’d seen the video done by TV2 in Denmark. When I said I hadn’t, he told me all about it—and how much it moved him.

What’s it about? Putting people in boxes … and the opposite … that we have more in common than we think. When I saw it, it brought tears to my eyes.

Take a look:

When I watched it again the other day, I had the same reaction. We can’t let politicians and the media divide us.

The reality is, we can come together to solve the challenges facing our communities, countries and world. But we need to be able to talk with each other. So let’s get going!

(P.S. I ended up marrying that guy three years later.)
