Pivotal moments are interesting times. We all have them, whether we want them or not.

They can jolt you out of your comfort zone, knocking you into a future you never wanted.

Perhaps you’ve hit the proverbial wall and are just plain tired of what’s happening in your life.

Or you’ve got an idea you’d love to turn into a reality, but you’re not sure what to do next.

Creating your best life and career requires you to look inward. According to Arthur Brooks, Harvard professor and happiness expert, you need to feel that your work has a purpose. It’s meaningful. It serves others.

But the biggest factor is fascination. It’s interesting to you—and has been for a long time. Even in your spare time, you’ll be thinking about it.

It can be tough to figure out. But when I looked back over my life, I found a real through-line.

As a kid, I spent hours searching for agates and 4-leaf clovers. I read Nancy Drew mystery novels, trying to figure out “who did it.” I played word games.

As an adult, I loved challenging sales situations: What did it take to successfully launch a new product? How could I quickly get up to speed in a new market? How could I shorten other people’s learning curves?

Ultimately, I built a career around this. It continually fascinated me and was meaningful. Plus, my work helped others, too.

In my new book, Pivotal Moments, I’ve shared multiple strategies you can use to stimulate your thinking. You can also download tools to get you even more focused on where you want your life to go.

The big question is … WHAT FASCINATES YOU?
